Help Stop Suicide About Us
About This Mission
A Father’s Love, A Lasting Purpose
On June 18, 2020, Chris Owens and his family experienced the most devastating loss a parent can imagine — the loss of his daughter, Meaghan Marie Owens.
Meaghan was much more than a bright young woman. She was a University of Georgia graduate, earning a 3.5 GPA in Finance. She was a gifted athlete — with a natural swing that could drive a golf ball over 200 yards, and a fierce spirit that made her a standout lacrosse player. But beyond her accomplishments, it was Meaghan’s common sense, quick wit, and devilish sense of humor that lit up the lives of those around her.
She was loved deeply — and is missed beyond words.
In the wake of her passing, Chris made a promise: that he would dedicate his energy, resources, and voice to suicide prevention and helping those who feel lost, unseen, or unsupported.
“If even one life is saved because of this effort,” Chris says, “then all of it is worth it.”
That’s how HelpStopSuicide.us came to be — not just as a website, but as a movement.
Our Commitment
Chris’s mission is about raising awareness, offering hope, and creating action. It’s about reaching people where they are, especially those struggling with substance abuse, depression, isolation, or simply the pressures of everyday life. It’s also about supporting the less fortunate and reminding people that they are never truly alone.
Through partnerships, events, fundraisers, and local outreach — including concerts and community sports fundraisers — HelpStopSuicide.us aims to:
- Break the silence around suicide and mental health
- Support prevention programs in communities across the country
- Offer resources and connection to those in crisis
- Honor the memory of Meaghan and others we’ve lost too soon

Please share, support, and stand with us — because even one life saved is everything.
Paige Rumsey Miller was 1 of 1. Words will never be able to describe what a special woman she was. She had a smile that could light up a room along with a personality that would leave your abs hurting from laughing so hard.
She had a passion for musical theater graduating from James Madison University and Catholic University of America. Upon graduating it was her mission to inspire children with that same love for singing and dancing.
Growing up, she poured into others as a camp counselor — always the first to bring joy, laughter, and a little bit of goofiness everywhere she went.
If you had the pleasure of meeting her, you didn’t just meet Paige — you experienced her. You walked away lighter, happier, and probably still laughing at one of her jokes. She truly embodied what it means to be remembered as a good person, and her legacy lives on in every life she touched.
